Duffy arrived at our shelter on 6/21/12. Age: 6 yrs DOB 6/26/06 Size: 30.4 lbs. Duffy was an owner surrender to our shelter, they obtained from another family, the first family had for 6 yrs then children came along twins, at the age of 3-4 yrs, the children started kicking him pulling his tail and hitting him with a stick. He was an outside dog only. The new family had a puppy, as Duffy was not neutered guess what he tried to do, they had an eleven year daughter that fed him and cared for him. He loved this child an would sit down in front of her, for love and attention.. When groomed, found he did not lite his feet mess with privacy area. This dog here will follow my help all over, is quiet will sit, ok with other dogs. We are crate training him at this time. HWT was negative and started him on prevention 7/4/12. Frontlined him on 6/21/12. He just need that right home for him, that will give him the love he deserves. Will have to work on housetraining him. Someone took him out on trial they said he is a great dog, however they had a small doggie door and he woul not fit thru it and he was like a bull in a china closet, into everything, help himself to kleenex box and also marking everywhere. So will really have to go from crate directly outside until he knows the house is not his potty area. He did love sitting on the couch with them and getting petted would also push the older Shih Tzu aside so the he could get all the love from them. Also watched Animal Planet with the older couple and when dogs barked on TV would try to get at them on the screen. Maybe better as the only dog. Leash trained. Adoption fee $100.00 as his vet bill with a groom was $111.30.
